Rev. Dr. Quovadis G. Thomas, Sr. was born May 29, 1955 to Deacon Clarence Thomas and the late Minnie Kate Thomas in the beautiful city of Jacksonville, Florida. He is a 1973 graduate of William M. Raines High school. He also attended Florida State Community College and Jacksonville University. On April 11, 1978 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Sharon D. Ebron. They have four children and nine grandchildren. Dr. Thomas gave his life to the Lord in the year of 1981at the Philadelphia Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the late Rev. Harold LeGree, he was ordained as a deacon in 1983 and licensed to preach in 1984. In 1985, Dr. Thomas was ordained as a pastor. In 1987, he was called to Pastor the St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Hastings, FL. He remained there until 1988. In 1988, God placed in his spirit to start his own ministry in Jacksonville, FL called Flame of Fire Baptist Church. This ministry began with 53 members and within one year it was successfully united with another congregation bringing total membership to 350 active members. In 1989 Dr. Thomas was called to Pastor at Moncrief Missionary Baptist Church where the motto is “Moving from Membership to Ministry.” While serving in this ministry he decided to continue his education and received his Doctor of Divinity from St. Thomas Christian College. In 1995, Dr. Thomas saw a need to help those who were addicted to drugs, abused women and children and feed and clothe the homeless. Out of this need he founded the Arms of Mercy Drug Free Recovery Ministry where he serves as CEO. Each year this ministry does an Annual Drug Free March and hosts a Community Fun Day. Arms of Mercy also reach out to inmates in various Florida correctional institutions. To date this ministry has fed over hundreds of people and is currently sending correspondence to 50 inmates. Dr. Thomas can also be seen at the Trinity Rescue Mission every 2nd Monday in each month, speaking an encouraging word to those who have seemed to lost hope. As you can see this ministry is fulfilling the mandate in Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Dr. Thomas has held several positions in the Christian ministry and Corporate companies such as: Former president of Emanuel Progressive Union, Former Vice-President of the Preacher Pastor Fellowship Conference, and Former Vice-Moderator of the Christian Fellowship Association. He also served on the Board of Directors for River Region Health Services, Executive Board member of Baptist Minister’s Council. He is currently the Co-Chairman of Evangelism North End of the Florida General Baptist Convention, Inc. Dr. Thomas has truly been called and anointed by God to preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the total man. He is a worker in the vineyard that has a passion for people.
